【2023/9/15】Ashlyn Krueger advanced to the semi-final

On September 15th, Singles’ quarter final matches were played at Kinoshita Group Japan Open Championships and first up was a match between Ashlyn Krueger and Ann Kalinskaya in which the young American prevailed with a score of 6-3,6-1. She advanced to the semi-final round – her first as her best result so far has been the quarterfinal appearance at Libema Open this past June.

The temperature soared past 30°C and it was uncomfortably hot on the court.“It was hard to play. I needed to use my head and try to end points quickly,”she said. Her serves hit from the height of 185 cm were working well. “ I had many aces. I can’t remember how many,” she said and was told that there were 11 aces in total. At the end of 2021, her ranking was 532. That went up to 178 by the end of last year and now it is at 123. “My goal for this year is to break into the top 100. “I want to stay focused in order to achieve that goal,” she said.
